Before we start of a new week we look back on news, and what’s hot from the past weekend in the music industry.

OmarionSinger OMARION is no longer on Columbia Records. A source at the label confirmed that the Sony imprint decided to drop the former B2K lead singer. Omarion (real name: Omari Ishmael Grandberry) signed as a solo artist to Columbia Records after B2K broke up in December 2003. His boy band was actually signed to Sony’s Epic division. The 23-year-old singer released two solo CDs for the record company, including 2005’s ‘O’ and 2006’s ‘21.’ Both albums were certified gold. In December of 2007, Omarion partnered with rapper Bow Wow on the CD, ‘Face Off.’ To date, the set has sold 341,137 units according to SoundScan. Rumors are he could either join Motown Records or Epic in the future.

New album plans for PANIC AT THE DISCO. There sophomore album, “Pretty. Odd.,” hasn’t even been out a month, but guitarist and chief songwriter Ryan Ross is already giving details about the group’s next effort. “We’ve written a bunch of songs since” recording “Pretty. Odd.,” stating that the group is working on 9 or 10 new songs now and there new album is almost at his final stage. Futher info will be released soon.

Meanwhile R&B singer NE-YO reports to being “bored” with R&B and the sound thats he’s doing in his last 2 albums, and wants ‘Year Of The Gentleman’ to be different . Judging by the handful of tracks we previewed from his new album, indeed offers a different style than just the traditional R&B. Also His tour compain with Alicia Keys and Jordin Sparks shows us a few for trays about movies and TV. Ne-yo preping up for a movie role?

MARY J. BLIGE then again, premiered her video for the hit single “Stay Down” featured from her last album “Growing Pains”. First impressions about the video tells us its coming out way to short and monotone for a hit record like “Stay Down”. But judge for yourself and watch it here. (link below)

Wu-Tang Clan founder RZA, System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian, Kinetic 9 (aka Beretta 9) and up-and-coming Chicago rapper Reverend William Burke have formed the new group Achozen. The hip-hop/rock hybrid has just finished recording a self-titled debut album that is set to be released this summer on digital label, urSESSION. There also planing to embark on a nation-wide tour later this year in support of the album.
